Art Nouveau

An Art Nouveau room should be exuberant. The stained glass windows create prismatic stars that dance around the room as the day changes. In opposition to the rectangular shape of the room, we arranged the rugs and furniture diagonally.

Inspired by a tile mural in Nancy, France, Sally designed the poppy mural. We added the Alabaster Chandelier from the late 19th century. It has bronze cherub mounts with wings. These angelic heads hold the rings of the supporting chains.

The room is a showcase for two of the owner’s collections: small Art Nouveau objects, furniture by Marjorelle and Galle’, and nomadic Caucasian Rugs from the turn of the 19th century. Many designers used these rugs for Art Nouveau interiors.

The twirling leaves and flowers of the mural express dynamic energy. The twining flowers carved on the furniture and the whiplash curves of the sinuous furniture frames are part of the energy of the room.
